DAS NEGATIVE STIGMA (DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, STRESS) REDUCED IN ONE SHARE

By : Mr. Haniff Abdullah Hashim K.B.;P.A.

SERDANG, April 30 - counselor at the Counseling Division Mr. Haniff Abdullah Hashim  K.B.;P.A. has delivered a sharing about the stigma against Depression, Anxiety and Stress among students to the participants of the We Care Wellness program. The program was organized by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Representative Council (MEHSSCO), which was also attended by students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The program takes place on 20 February 2024, Saturday from 9.00 am - 11.00 am which is located in the Main Lecture Hall, Faculty of Change and Health Sciences, UPM.

Through the partnership Mr. Haniff has emphasized the need for three main steps in dealing with issues related to depression, anxiety and stress. The steps are related to prevention, strengthening emotional resilience and thinking (resilience) and intervention. According to him, at one level of human life, things related to mental health are unexpected, especially in a challenging situation like the present. Therefore, the students need to always be in a situation of being ready by increasing awareness related to this matter.

The students have been applied with an action plan in case they are faced with certain situations. The students have a negative stigma and feel that discussing mental health is taboo because it is related to morality and religion. However through this one and a half hour sharing. The participants were more open and able to understand the difference between mental illness, mental health and details related to depression, anxiety and stress.

The organizers through the program director hope that the continuation of this program can be held in the future. I would also like to say a thousand thanks to the participants who attended this program and hope that the participants who attend this program receive benefits and have a good impact on their daily lives and share the chain of human relationships.
